- [From Hesitation to Hope: Sakshi’s Journey from Silence to Self-Belief](https://njpfoundation.org/elementor-38293/): Sakshi was just 7 years old when she first walked into our learning center—quiet, uncertain, and unsure of what the future held. With four siblings and parents who worked tirelessly to make ends meet, education was never a given. Her father is a daily wage laborer, and her mother runs a small vegetable stall in their colony. Every child is one caring adult away from being a success story. Josh Shipp A New Beginning When Sakshi joined Nav Jeevan Prayas Foundation (NJPF), she could barely read or write. She avoided eye contact, sat at the back, and rarely participated in class discussions. Like many first-generation learners, her world was limited by silence—not just in her voice, but in her opportunities. But change began—slowly and gently. Our dedicated educators and volunteers created a safe and loving environment for her to explore, question, and learn. With regular academic support and emotional encouragement, Sakshi started taking small steps. From Shy to Strong Within a year, she not only caught up with the foundational curriculum but also started enjoying learning. What once felt overwhelming became exciting. She began participating in classroom activities, reading aloud during group sessions, and helping her peers. Her favorite time was story hour—where she transitioned from listener to storyteller. A Confident Teen With Big Dreams Today, Sakshi is 13 years old and confidently attending a government school near her home. Her teachers speak highly of her discipline and leadership in class. When asked what she wants to become, she beams with pride and says, “I want to be a police officer—to help people who are scared or helpless like I used to be.” Lessons We Learned from Sakshi Her journey is a testament to the power of patient guidance and supportive spaces. Sakshi is not just one child’s story—she represents hundreds like her who only need someone to believe in them. How You Can Help 1. Inspire giving by truthfully telling your story Sakshi’s story shows us that transformation happens when we invest in a child’s self-worth—not just academics. Your support helps us create more stories like hers. 2. Tailor your message to who you’re asking Whether you’re a donor, partner, or volunteer—there’s a role for everyone in this change. Education is not one-size-fits-all, and neither is giving. 3. Create a sense of urgency Every day, many Sakshis are waiting outside our centers—waiting for someone to open the door. Help us reach them before it’s too late. 4. Use email to your advantage Share Sakshi’s story with friends, family, and co-workers. It could inspire someone else to give or volunteer. 5. Make it easy to donate You can sponsor a child’s monthly learning support for as little as ₹600. Visit njpfoundation.org/donate to contribute now. Join Us in Creating More Stories Like Sakshi’s When we meet children like Sakshi, we’re reminded why NJP Foundation exists. There are countless young minds just like hers—full of potential, waiting to be nurtured. Together, we can ensure that no child is left behind in silence. Let’s build more bridges—from hesitation to hope.

- [Heat Wave and Landfill Fires](https://njpfoundation.org/heat-wave-and-landfill-fires/):   Fire at Bhalswa Landfill Site (Source: DTE) Considering the quantum of waste generated in Delhi, it is imperative to act upon the waste treatment facilities. It is of utmost importance to get a sustainable value chain (for the long term) in place. While there has been a certain amount of effort and capital being pumped into the segregation and treatment of waste, it can be observed that there are still gaps that need to be filled. For an instance, there are vehicles for door-to-door collection of waste with separate compartments for wet and dry waste. However, these vehicles cannot be put to their optimum use till there is an effective end-use for the waste generated. Additionally, there needs to be an absolute commitment from the community’s end to segregate waste at the household level for more efficient solid waste management. The present calendar year (2022) has seen the hottest March in the past 100 years. When methane reaches a certain concentration, it may spontaneously explode in the presence of heat, studies have shown. This is why landfill fires like this one are a common occurrence. However, methane generation can be curbed by proper segregation, and if possible, composting/treating wet waste at the source.  Three other landfills around Delhi have also caught fire in recent weeks, ABC reported. The landfill where the most recent fire ignited was planned for closure more than a decade ago, but more than 2,300 tons (2,086 metric tons) of garbage are added to the trash heap every day, according to ABC News. These overburdened landfills are a ticking time bomb. While strict action needs to be taken against the dumping of waste at saturated landfill sites, treatment of waste at the source can go a long way in preventing these landfill fires. – Anshul Aggarwal Source:
- [Composting Wet Waste](https://njpfoundation.org/composting-wet-waste/): As the hospital has to deal with large quantities of wet waste along with dry and biomedical waste. At the end of the program which was attended by the doctors and the medical staff of the DCB hospital everyone took the pledge to do their bit to reduce, recycle and take all the necessary steps to leave the planet in a better condition for their future generations.
- [Installation of Air Purifier](https://njpfoundation.org/installation-of-air-purifier/): Installation of Air Purifier at the ICU ward of Pt Madan Mohan Malviya hospital, Malviya Nagar, with the CSR support from Health Insurance TPA of India Ltd. One more step towards ‘Project Green Institutions’. Our keynote speaker Mr A S K Sinha, Director, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum technology (RGIPT) gave some insights on sustainability. We thank Mr Jayant Joshi, Dr Rajeev, MS, Dr Anuradha Sharma, DMS, Dr Anjali Gupta, HOD, from the hospital. Also Mr Pradeep Srivastava CFO/DGM, Ms Alka Singhal and Mr Shubasis Mahapatra from HITPA for their valuable words. Dr Sharmila, Pathologist at the hospital shared that she prepares eco friendly Bio enzyme cleaner at home after learning about them in our earlier sessions. She testified to its effectiveness as a great alternative to chemical cleaners. Such encouragement firm up our resolve and belief in the possibility of change. #ShikshaHiShakti #njpfoundation #environment #sustainability #airpollution #CSR #csrproject
- [Green Solutions](https://njpfoundation.org/green-solutions/): October 21, 2021 Uncategorized It is well established that the underprivileged sections of the society bear the brunt of environmental degradation the most. The unprecedented growth in vehicular traffic and rotting garbage contributes further to this unequitable outcome of development and is a big contributor to the ever deteriorating air quality index. It is important to reduce the number of vehicular trips and employ more efficient waste management techniques to control environmental damage. In order to improve the air quality and reduce the burden on landfills around large cities, attempts should be made to manage the waste where it is being generated. Segregation of waste would come out as a successful policy if majority of the waste is reduced, reused and recycled at source. Green waste is one of the major challenges that add avoidable bulk to the overburdened landfills. There are a number of innovative solutions to convert waste to compost. These may be explored at individual as well as institutional levels. Composting machines can lead to considerably decreased waste disposal trips to landfills by providing an in-situ processing solution to the low-density green waste. This can also provide added economic opportunities for the local community institutions like SHGs or the cleaning staff engaged therewith. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle are the key words for Environmental Sustainability! – Anshul Aggarwal (Environmental Consultant) #NJPFoundation #gogreen #Environmental #Sustainability #SDG
- [‘Project Aabhar’](https://njpfoundation.org/project-aabhar/): Project Abhar is a distribution drive to provide ration and hygiene kit to daily wage health and sanitation frontline workers. Yesterday’s drive held at SDMC School, Malviya Nagar was also a great success. We could reach out to more than 100 families this time.We heartily thank Dr. Nandini Sharma, Councilor MCD, Mr. Yogender Kapoor, Dr. Atul Wadhwa and Dr. Bharti for their gracious presence on the occasion. Let’s take a moment to be grateful to all our #frontline #coronawarriors treat them with utmost respect, and give them back whenever we get a chance. #ShikshaHiShakti #njpfoundation
